Hello! I’m Preston, a self-taught photographer from Singapore with a passion for capturing authentic, everyday moments through my lens. My fascination with cameras began early, as I’d spend hours experimenting with the ones on my parents' phones, mesmerized by how they could transform the world into something extraordinary. When I finally got my own iPhone, inspired by Apple’s “Shot on iPhone” ads, I began pushing my camera’s limits, exploring how even the simplest of scenes could become a striking image with the right perspective.
Photography grew from a casual pastime to a creative passion in mid-2024, when I received my first DSLR, a Nikon D5500—a hand-me-down that became the true start of my journey. With it, I dove into a range of photography styles, and it wasn’t long before street photography captured my heart. There’s a unique thrill in capturing unscripted stories, in showing the raw emotion and quiet narratives that happen around us every day. A man on his way to work, a forgotten alley, the subtle bustle of a familiar street corner—all hold their own beauty, waiting to be framed and transformed.
I find inspiration in the works of Garry Winogrand, Jason Vong, and Kenneth Hines, who have taught me that photography is as much about seeing as it is about capturing. Street photography, for me, is about being present yet unseen, finding those moments of honesty and giving them permanence. I’m guided by the idea that a photographer’s job is “to make the mundane look interesting, and the interesting look mundane.” For me, that’s the essence of storytelling through a lens—finding the extraordinary in the ordinary and the ordinary in the extraordinary.
Thank you for joining me on this journey. I invite you to explore my work and, hopefully, to see the world a bit differently through my eyes.
